Pre-made FAQ of the Satyr Saturday event and replays
Written by Ricky_Honejasi, text correction by Zilla.
This is a pre-made FAQ based on the various potential questions that you might have.
Section 1 : A More detailed guide on how to view the replays
Q : I need more detailed instructions on how to view the replays. The quickguide just didn't cut it for me or something went wrong despite it.
A : First of all, we will assume you installed Warcraft 3 to the folder "C:\Program Files\Warcraft III" (the default installation path).
1.1) Finding your Warcraft 3 folder
In that case, you need to go to your C: drive, go to the folder "Program Files" then the folder "Warcraft III". This will bring you your Warcraft 3 main folder. You will see a folder called "replays" and another one called "Maps".
1.2) Extracting the replays ZIP file
Download any specific week's replay ZIP file. If you cannot open the ZIP file, you need a program such as WinZip, WinRAR or WinAce to open it. Then extract the ZIP's contents of that replays ZIP into the folder "replays".
1.3) Extracting the download maps ZIP file
You will also need to download the maps since Warcraft 3's replays are map-dependant in order to be viewed. If you don't have the exact same maps at the same loaded path that were played for the replay, you cannot view that replay. However, the map packs along with the replays were made to minimize that problem.
Then download the same week's download ZIP file. If there is "None", it means that week doesn't have a download maps file related to it thus ignore it.
If there is one, go to your "maps" folder inside your Warcraft 3 main folder and you will see a folder called "download", extract the download maps ZIP file inside the folder "download".
1.4) Extracting the good maps ZIP file
Then download the same week's Good Maps ZIP file. If there is "None", it means that week doesn't have a good maps ZIP file related to it.
If there is one, go to your "maps" folder inside your Warcraft 3 main folder and you need to create a new folder called "Good Maps" inside your "maps" folder. Extract the good maps maps ZIP file inside the folder "Good Maps". Other than caps, the folder must be named "Good Maps" since a good deal of replays were loaded from my "Good Maps" folder.
ALSO extract the Good Maps ZIP inside your "download" folder (located inside your "maps" folder). Many of the same maps are also used in the download folder but were put apart to minimize bandwidth used for downloading the files.
Section 2 : Questions related to replays in general
Q : When I try to open any of the replays, the mini-map always have that "?" image and it says that it cannot find some map.
A : As a quick remainder, replays are map-dependant. Thus either you incorrectly extracted the maps (in the wrong folder) or you didn't extracted it at all. Please see Section 1 again above.
Q : I can open most of the replays but there are quite a few that give me the loading error. I notice the path of the missing map always has "Good Maps" somewhere in it.
A : It's likely that you forgot to download and extract the "Good Maps" maps. It's also possible you skipped the last part that you must ALSO extract the Good Maps ZIP inside the DOWNLOAD folder as well the Good Maps folder.
Q : Okay, I did EVERYTHING fine but there are still a few replays here and there that cannot be loaded.
A : Yes, I am aware that a small minority of replays cannot be opened. Sometimes exact maps gets replaced which screw up some specific replays. Can't do it much at this point.
Q : Why do I need maps to load replays in the first place anyway?
A : Unlike Starcraft which kept map data inside the replays, Warcraft III depend on the exact maps to load the data. It is logical since most replays are melee-based on melee maps that every player has in the first place thus ultimately minimizing replay file size. As for replays on custom maps (which the Satyr Saturday event's games mostly play on), it needs those custom maps.
Q : I want to contact whoever is responsible for the replays for whatever the reason.
A : It is I! Ricky_Honejasi to contact for further information. You can reach me via a PM (Private Message) or by AIM'ing me to "Ricky Honejasi" (without the _ between Ricky and Honejasi for AIM). I don't give e-mail addresses since I almost never check them anyway.
Section 3 : Questions about the Satyr Saturday event
Section updated on January 30, 2009.
Q : Those are interesting replays although I always see SS or Satyr Saturday, what it is?
A : It is a Warcraft 3 gaming event shared between Campaign Creations and Samods (formerly known as the Star Alliance).
Q : I am interested to come to play, how can I come?
A : Now, there are two events : Phoenix Phriday and Satyr Saturday every Friday and Saturday respectively at 8:00 pm both (GMT -5, Eastern Zone) to 12 am. You log to the USWest (NOT USEast) realm and then go to the channel "Clan LLDN".
Note : Before, there was a single Satyr Saturday event at every Saturday at 9:00 pm (GMT -5, Eastern Zone) to 3:00 am. This information is kept for historial reasons.
Q : I am interested to come to play but I don't want to join any clan or I am already in a clan.
A : You don't need to join our clan nor leave your clan to participate the Phoenix Phriday and Satyr Saturday events. In addition, our clan is more a collection of persons rather than being any serious clan.
Q : I arrived but there was nobody.
A : Either you came at the wrong time/day (easily possible with the Time Zone having different times for everyone) or everyone is currently in a game (very common if you came late). You can whisper (using the /w command) to Ricky_Honejasi, BilltheEmu, Zilla- or Mucky being some of the most common players.
Q : I logged in but I couldn't join the channel.
A : This can happen if it's the wrong time/day since nobody is in the channel and that you are not a member of the clan. Otherwise, it's someone in the clan that decided to make the channel private instead of letting it public. You can whisper about it (using the /w command) to Ricky_Honejasi, BilltheEmu, Zilla- or Mucky being some of the most common players.
Q : I want to contact whoever is responsible for the Satyr Saturday event for whatever the reason.
Section 4 : Questions about the LLDN clan (common Satyr saturday players) and its players.
Q : What does LLDN (clan abbreviation) stands for?
A : Loladin. A marriage between LOL and Paladin. Shows how serious the clan is anyway. :p
Q : Who is the clan's chieftain?
A : It's me, Ricky_Honejasi. The same one who post the replays and got "ultimate authority" over the clan. But yeah, mostly just have the power to decide who got shaman priviledges and such and the occasional decision making concerning Satyr Saturday and that's it.
Q : Are you also the founder of the clan?
A : Nah, Milldawg founded the clan but I eventually had its chieftain position later on since I had more influence and was more present overall for the clan and event.
Q : How many members do you have in your clan?
A : Around 40-50 or something although only 8-10 are any reasonably active that form the common bunch at the Satyr Saturday events.
Q : I want to contact whoever is responsible for the clan for whatever the reason.
Section 5 : History of the LLDN Clan by BilltheEmu (also known as Mr.)
NOTE : The member list is outdated for around 2+ years. Just a copy-pasted post with slight modifications.
A brief history of the noblest of clans:
The name "Loladin" derives from the original latin roots "lol" and "paladin." The term was first used by Jonathan Milldawg to describe a fierce warrior who engages in battle armed with Roflcopters and Lollerskates, as well as being trained in the arts of EL OH EL. Such a warrior has rarely been seen by human eyes, as its legacy is of great and noble importance, yet unfortunately was a short one.
In honor of the Loladin, ten of us entered into the field of Battle Net, under the command of our first Chieftain, Milldawg, and declared ourselves as the Clan of the Loladin, determined to preserve its legacy throughout time. Since that glorious day, our clan has expanded to consist of 34 followers of the EL OH EL. Alas, one day there was an uprising in the clan, and the Shaman Rickius Honejasi, a loyal member, and one of the founders of our great clan, declared his intention to usurp Milldawg and sieze the title of Chieftain for himself. Upon hearing the intentions of Rickius, Milldawg made his decree: "Okay." And thus, ultimate command of our Clan was placed into the hands of Chieftain Honejasi, who is still in command to this day. Jonathan Milldawg was demoted to a Shaman, but still retains the power to change the Clan Loladin message of the day.
Since the founding of this legendary organization, we have made it our goal to hold ownership of faces, and to pawn any and all available nubs, in the name of the Loladin. As of yet, we are, in fact, not remotely close to being undefeated. However, our total level of awesomeness has never, at any point, been challenged by any of our competitors. In that regard, we reign supreme.
