The Gallantry

Dorasidan scientists have completed a functional prototype of the QUANTUM ACCELERATION CANNON (QAC), a ship-based long range superweapon rumored to have already been deployed on the DSS Gallantry, the first vessel of the experimental GALLANTRY-class super battlecruisers and the newest flagship of the Tarkenped Navy.

While the basic concept of the QAC remains similar to that of the existing Yamato Cannon, this new weapon uses experimental quantum acceleration technology to release the energy of a maximum-yield nuclear explosion into a series of focused energy bursts that are launched from the cannon at terrifying velocity.

Where the Yamato Cannon was capable of striking a single target at long-range with enormous power, the QAC has superior range, damages any object between it and its target, causes tremendous splash damage upon reaching its target, and deals approximately six (6) times the damage of the Yamato Cannon.

However, the QAC requires a huge amount of energy to operate and has a charge-up time of five (5) seconds after the order to fire has been given. During this time, the ship carrying the QAC is left completely open to attack. Finally, any friendly unit caught within the QAC's line of fire will suffer damage and is likely to be destroyed.
