Nolaran Carrier
This is the
Nolaran Carrier, a
capital ship that Xavier
will likely describe in future
Design Journal Entries. It's
got the main bay on the top there, towards the rear, just ahead of the top tail
fin. It is heavily armored and has a split hull, with curved panels that I
envision as shield generators. The
Nolaran Carrier differs from
the
Protoss Carrier
in that it carries a much larger complement of onboard strike craft, all of
which are piloted by actual
Nolarans - since the
Carrier
does not carry onboard manufacturing facilities, once all of its strike craft
are destroyed, it must return to dock with a
Nolaran
base to be re-equipped. The vessel
itself is fast-moving, thanks to
Nolaran Atomic Displacement Propulsion (ADP) technology,
despite being weighted down with fighters, munitions, and fighter
repair/servicing stations.

Nolaran 'Cyclops' Fighter
The
Nolaran strike craft
that reside aboard the sleek
Carriers
are known as
Cyclops -
they are extremely fast, agile, and pack tremendous amounts of firepower.
This comes
at a cost, however, as
Nolaran Cyclops Fighters
are poorly armored and shielded. Even
so, they are nearly as durable as
Protoss Scouts.

Nolaran Shields
regenerate very quickly, nearly four times as fast as their comparatively
primitive Protoss
counterparts (plasma
shielding). The
Cyclops
is equipped with four
ADP thrusters, giving it
remarkable acceleration and handling capabilities. In the hands of their
seasoned, expertly-trained
Nolaran pilots,
Cyclops Fighters
are a terrifying force to be reckoned with. Each
Cyclops fighter packs two large
Plasma Cannons,
giving them the same amount of firepower as the fearsome
Nolaran Acolyte,
the frigate-sized vessel used for general-purpose missions and assaults.
Nolaran Plasma Cannons
fire massive volleys of quantum-accelerated, long-ranging energy bolts that
easily penetrates
Terran
armor and quickly drains
Protoss
shields. In addition,
Plasma Cannons
generate very little heat, permitting them to fire extremely rapidly with
minimal recycle times.

Here we have the basic armor for the Nolaran Crusader, a ground unit. This model proved to be more difficult to make than the ships; it took several hours to complete. It's a powerfully resilient, lightweight armor, a desirous combination of properties achieved by superior Nolaran technology and engineering. After I finished the first render (right), Xavier told me to add spikes, so they looked less rounded and Terran. So below is another render with spikes.

Technical Design
Well, not a whole lot of tech work done by me personally, lately. I have started working on doodads that will be added to various
tilesets. That's about it.
