The Gallantry

The Gallantry: Ah yes, but at this point, you may still be asking yourself, "What is the Gallantry? I don't understand! Where is my brain medicine?" Well, I already explained that the Gallantry is a ship that travels through space, but from what origin, and for what purpose? Oh great ship Gallantry, what is your purpose in this universe of ours!

All Too Familiar: One of the things I wanted to do with The Gallantry was, like Celestial Irruption, connect the campaign with each other. I think most everyone would agree though that having characters cross over once again would begin to get a little overdone. Having Rond appear in CI was almost mythical, especially seeing as how E.D.A.S.T. was never completed. Having Rond appear in The Gallantry would just be.... repetitive. We needed a new crew, and we quickly came up with one. A crew led by a misfit.

Captain Lanse: A hero unlike any seen in StarCraft before. Captain Lanse is a curiousity. Captain Lanse is charming. Captain Lanse is profound. Captain Lanse is... hey, where is he? One of the most technologically advanced vessels ever constructed by the world of Dorasida, and this guy is commanding? But how? It is a good question, and a plot twist which I won't reveal. No, that must be saved for the campaign, for some things must remain a surprise to be impacting. But know this about Captain Lanse: He is not a 'dumb and dumber' character, nor is he annoying. He is quite frankly, the first lovable charming and downright mysterious characters you will ever lay eyes on. Though not mysterious in a dark templar way. Moreso in a way of, "How the hell did this guy survive this long?"

The Crew: Of course, a Captain doesn't make all that a ship is. It's the crew that helps define the ship, like quirks in our own personalities that seperate us from everyone else. On the one hand, you have Commander Green, the model officer, who isn't quite ready for full command yet himself. Then you have the drunken engineer, Mr. Jiles 'Jeeves' Montgomery, who after a snifter of brandy, can make anything run. What ship wouldn't be complete without it's own compliment of fighters? Led by the passive and somewhat elusive Ji Katan. And then you would need someone to run your marine corps, for ground operations. A real tough guy. Someone like Vick Kranson, probably the only man likely to ever give Colonel Marsel orders. Of course, you'd need the female touch to keep the crew in line and in their place, as well as double as a science officer. Lieutenant Nadia Starr commands that posistion like she commands herself, with dignity.

Going around Space is Fun!: So what would the Gallantry do? Travel around space looking for adventure like some kinda misguided Star Trek episode? Or would they fight the enemies of the Koprulu sector? Perhaps get into a scuffle with the Nugdraas Brood? Or maybe go head to head with Kerrigan, or Duran. We could have an updated version of 'The Fenix'! Better yet, maybe it could continue Celestial Irruption, and fight against Emperor Kaulin and the Empire! Ah, but alas, no. For this worthy ship, none of the enemies of the Koprulu sector would be satisfactory in challenge. Realism would either fly out the window or take a backseat. We needed something new. We needed a new race.
