Chapter Two: Fundamental Unit Statistics Reference: Arsenal III: Units Editor: Graphics Sprites Construct [drop-down list]: This value tells Starcraft what type of Construction Animation to give the unit when it is building/morphing. (I.E., like the big blob things over zerg buildings where the drones morph into them or the bits and pieces of Terran buildings that appear when an SCV begins to build it) General [drop-down menu]: This is a list of all the "graphics" a unit can have (from flingy.dat, in order). A sprite is basically what the unit "looks like" when you play. While this value may appear pretty simple, it is actually semi-advanced as it deals with the unit's animation properties (affecting it's abilities to have an air attack and cast spells among other things, such as speed). (Pointer to an object in flingy.dat) Others Portrait [drop-down menu]: This value determines which portrait the unit will have when you click on it or when it talks to you. (Pointer to an object in portdata.dat) Overlay [text box] - unknown. Subunits Subunit 1 [drop-down menu]: A subunit is kind of like a smaller unit that is part of the unit. For example, the tank and the goliath are actually 2 units combined. Each has a turret part and a base part. The base part is the main unit (which moves around), and the turret part is the subunit (which turns around and attacks stuff). In fact, only tanks, seiged tanks, and goliaths (and their respective Hero units) have subunits (or turrets). The value in Subunit 1 for the base of the units determine what the turret part is. A simple and effective change would be to give the tank the goliath turret or the tank the tank (or siege tank) turret. That is done simply by switching the values in Subunit 1. While other units can be given subunits also, the process is generally a lot more complicated and takes more changes to be effective (specifically, the base sprite must be edited to allow for the overlay turret subunit sprite, which require lo* files). (Pointer to another entry in units.dat) Subunit 2 [drop-down menu]: This is a second subunit value, just like Subunit 1. This is unused. Unit Dimensions Width [text box]: width of selection box when placing unit in Staredit, and how much horizontal "space" to give the unit in the game (to seperate it from other units). Height [text box]: height of selection box when placing unit in Staredit, and how much vertical "space" to give the unit in the game (to seperate it from other units). Sel. Circle Dimensions Width [text box]: Not sure. Doesn't seem to do anything. Height [text box]: Not sure. Doesn't seem to do anything. |
